TELANGANA FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION PILOT 

Telangana's system is designed to make fertilizer distribution digital, transparent, traceable and farmer-linked. The state has been using the Aadhaar-enabled Fertilizer Distribution System (AeFDS) and has now expanded a newer Fertilizer Sales (FFS) digital platform.

Current Telangana Fertilizer Distribution System – 2026

The important new development is the Fertilizer Sales (FFS) platform.

As of August 2026, Telangana has expanded the digital fertilizer sales system to 10 additional districts, namely:

• Nizamabad
• Kamareddy
• Adilabad
• Kumuram Bheem Asifabad
• Medak
• Siddipet
• Sangareddy
• Khammam
• Bhadradri Kothagudem
• Vikarabad

These were added to districts where the system had already been introduced on a pilot basis.

The system allows farmers to:

• Check fertilizer availability
• Purchase fertilizer through authorized dealers
• Use Aadhaar-based authentication
• Monitor available stocks
• Digitally record fertilizer transactions

The objective is end-to-end digital monitoring of fertilizer supply and sales.

Telangana Fertilizer Mobile Application

The Telangana Agriculture Department also has an official Fertilizer Mobile Application.

According to the current app information, registered farmers can:

Check fertilizer availability

Farmers can check fertilizer stock availability before going to the dealer.

Book fertilizer

Farmers can book the required quantity based on their eligibility.

Schedule collection

The application allows farmers to schedule a collection slot from an authorized dealer.

Reduce waiting time

Instead of farmers repeatedly visiting shops to find fertilizer, the digital system is intended to improve planning and reduce waiting.

Prevent misuse

Digital booking and transaction records help reduce unauthorized or duplicate purchases.

How the Telangana System Works

STEP 1 – Farmer registration/data

The system uses farmer-related information already available in government databases.

The application privacy information says the system can use:

• Farmer name
• Dealer/tenant information
• Aadhaar for identification and eligibility verification
• Mobile number
• PPB/ROFR number
• IFMS ID for fertilizer dealers
• Existing land and crop information

STEP 2 – Fertilizer requirement

Fertilizer requirements are planned based on the season and crop requirement.

Telangana's Agriculture Department states that fertilizer allocation to districts is based on seasonal and crop-wise requirements.

STEP 3 – Fertilizer reaches dealers

Fertilizer moves through the supply chain:

Manufacturer/Importer

Authorized Retailer

The Integrated Fertilizer Management System helps monitor fertilizer movement and stock throughout this chain.

STEP 4 – Farmer checks availability

The farmer can use the Telangana Fertilizer application to check whether the required fertilizer is available.

STEP 5 – Booking/eligibility

The farmer books the required fertilizer quantity according to the applicable eligibility.

STEP 6 – Dealer allocation

The farmer is directed to an authorized dealer/collection point.

STEP 7 – Aadhaar authentication

At the point of sale, the farmer is authenticated using Aadhaar-based identification.

Telangana district agriculture information states that fertilizer sales are mandatory through PoS machines based on the farmer's Aadhaar.

STEP 8 – Fertilizer is supplied

The dealer provides the fertilizer and records the transaction digitally.

STEP 9 – Government monitoring

The transaction becomes part of the digital system, allowing authorities to monitor:

• Who purchased fertilizer
• What fertilizer was purchased
• Quantity purchased
• Where it was purchased
• Dealer stock
• Fertilizer movement
