Promoting Sustainable and Organic Farming in India

The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) is a Government of India initiative launched in 2015 to promote organic farming through a cluster-based approach. It is currently a component of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and provides end-to-end support covering organic production, certification, processing, marketing and capacity building.

Key Benefits of PKVY

Under PKVY, eligible organic farming clusters receive financial assistance of ₹31,500 per hectare for three years. The support includes:

• ₹15,000/ha – Organic inputs through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
• ₹4,500/ha – Marketing, packaging, branding and value addition
• ₹3,000/ha – Certification and residue analysis
• ₹9,000/ha – Training, awareness and capacity building

Who Can Benefit?

PKVY primarily supports farmers organised into organic farming clusters, with emphasis on developing collective production and supply chains. The scheme is implemented through State and Union Territory governments.

Impact of PKVY

As of 31 December 2025, PKVY had covered 18.84 lakh hectares and benefited approximately 33.94 lakh farmers across India.
