Nutrixa - CalMag+

Overview

Nutrixa - CalMag+ is a Calcium Nitrate suspension fortified with Magnesium from Vatrixa Crop Sciences — a fast-acting calcium source built around the nitrate form of nitrogen, which plants absorb immediately without needing microbial conversion in the soil.

Product Description

Calcium is the nutrient most responsible for cell-wall integrity, yet it is the slowest-moving nutrient inside the plant (it does not travel through the phloem), so it has to be resupplied often to actively growing tissue. CalMag+ pairs readily available nitrate-calcium with magnesium in a stable suspension for foliar or fertigation use, aimed at fruiting vegetables, fruit crops and other produce prone to calcium-deficiency disorders.

Technical Details

  • Composition: Calcium Nitrate fortified with Magnesium
  • Formulation: Suspension (SC)
  • Application: Foliar spray or fertigation/drip, ideally at first fruit set and continued through fruit development
  • Compatibility: Avoid tank-mixing directly with phosphate- or sulphate-based fertilizers (risk of calcium precipitation); apply separately if unsure
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place; shake well before use

Key Features & Benefits

  • Enhances photosynthesis
  • Improves fruit quality and yield
  • Strengthens cellular structure
  • Synergistic nutrient uptake and rapid absorption

Mode of Action

The nitrate form of nitrogen in Calcium Nitrate is taken up and used by the plant immediately, giving a fast vegetative and photosynthetic response compared with ammonium or urea sources, which need microbial conversion first. Calcium ions cross-link pectin molecules in the cell wall's middle lamella, physically strengthening the membrane against physiological disorders — this is why regular, split applications of readily available calcium reduce blossom end rot in tomato and chilli, tip burn in cabbage and lettuce, and bitter pit in apple, and improve post-harvest firmness across produce. Magnesium, supplied alongside, anchors the chlorophyll molecule and keeps photosynthesis running even as calcium is being redirected to new fruit tissue.
