Product Description

Boron does not move through the phloem the way most nutrients do, so once flowering begins, a crop depends almost entirely on fresh boron supply reaching developing flowers and fruit directly. Chelating boron with glycine protects it from binding with calcium or other cations on the leaf surface and in the tank mix, and the amino-acid carrier is actively taken up through leaf-surface transporters, giving faster and more complete absorption than inorganic boron sources.

Mode of Action

The glycine chelate keeps the boron ion in a stable, plant-available form as it crosses the leaf cuticle, rather than being tied up by calcium or other minerals before it can be absorbed. Once inside the plant, boron cross-links pectin in the cell wall and is essential for pollen tube growth — pollen with insufficient boron germinates poorly and fails to fertilise the ovule, which is the single biggest cause of boron-related flower and fruit drop. Boron also governs the movement of sugars and carbohydrates from source leaves into developing fruit, so correcting boron supply around flowering directly improves fruit set percentage, fruit size and sugar content.
